Marching into the 2022 season: the Georgia Spartans gear up for semi-pro play
March is more than just March Madness per college basketball.
For the semi-pro Georgia Spartans, March is an opportunity for fine-tuning as they enter league play.
The 2021 edition sees them losing 2 games all season (combined in the regular season and playoffs) and finishing as the runner-up for the USBL semi-professional basketball league/season (click HERE for our recap). However, the team is getting focused for sealing the deal in 2022 and taking home the championship/title.
And it starts this Saturday.
On March 12th from 2-5pm EST (taking place at Exchange Park located on 2771 Columbia Drive in Decatur, GA), the team is participating as the headliner for the GA Classic Basketball Game. They'll take on the West Georgia Royals as the game provides both teams with a sense of where they stand leading up to the start of their respective seasons.
Complete with vendors ranging from food/refreshments and giveaways, along with music from the top area DJ's and more, it provides fans of the game and families a great way to spend part of your Saturday. Admission is $10 and there are VIP options for $25 (this option allows for courtside seating and food as part of your purchase). Tipoff is promptly at 3pm, so readers are invited and encouraged to arrive early, grab a bite, check out the businesses, and enjoy some great action on the hardwood.
For ticket information (there are online and on-site/day of options), you may visit the team's website (click HERE).
Coming off last season's 9 win run (and losing one regular season game and the league championship game by a combined 7 points), the Georgia Spartans are looking ahead to the season (click HERE for their 2021 regular season ending performance) and building on their great blend of a high-powered offense and steady defense (click HERE to check out their 2021 season playlist).
March 2022 is their time to march on.
