Another day of talented teamwork: Day 2 at the PBR/Camping World Team Series

Our Saturday (July 27, 2024) is a little different, but in a good way.

Coming off covering the first day of the PBR/Camping World Team Series (click HERE for our recap) and prior to seeing the team matchups up close and personal, we return to the Gas South District (in Duluth, GA) and enjoy some up close conversations with four riders. In their own way, their passion and perspective regarding what they do in the ring and beyond provides tremendous insight applicable in and outside the sport.

Through our collaborative efforts with EmoryRose Photography and Lens2Pens, getting an inside look at the sport from the riders' vantage point allows for a broader perspective. Our interview with Cassio Dias (of the Kansas City Outlaws), the 2024 World Champion who is arguably considered currently as one of if not the top professional rider, provides a look at how the influence of his family, how he maintains his calm and focus, and insight for those considering the profession (you may watch the full interview below):

Hagen Braswell (of the Oklahoma Wildcatters) is one of the younger professionals in PBR, but in sharing his story about how he got started in professional bull riding to the early life and professional lessons learned thus far, he's setting the foundation for a solid professional career and beyond (you may watch the full interview below):

The Arizona Ridge Riders' Keyshawn Whitehorse is a long-time fan favorite and one of the more acclaimed and respected riders in PBR. He shares his inspiration when it comes to riding along with the impact and legacy he'd like to leave in the profession and beyond (you may watch the full interview below):

Our interview with Elizmar Jeremias (Florida Freedom) speaks to a few of the topics of the previous interviews, as well as the universal importance of having a work ethic and sound approach within the world of bull riding and beyond (you may watch the full interview below):

These conversations set the tone and stage for another competitive series of matchups as they are as follows:

The top-ranked Cowboys improved to 4-0 (winning 259.75 to 85.5). Cooper Davis (the opener/first rider) set the tone with his 87 score and the scoring efforts of Derek Kolbaba (85 points) and closer Sage Steele Kimzey (87.75 points) for the win as the Gamblers drop to 1-3 overall.

The Kansas City Outlaws, thanks to timely scoring efforts by Julio Cesar Marques and closer (the last of the 5 team riders) and World Champion Cassio Dias (with a rarified air score of 90 points) earn them a down to the wire win over the Florida Freedom (178.25 to 89.5). Their win is a solid bounce-back effort given Friday, as they improve to 3-1 to remain in the hunt for the season title (Florida drops to 1-3 overall and looks to have a bounce-back effort of their own in their next match).

The "young guns" of the team series, the Oklahoma Wildcatters, did not disappoint. With a team who has a number of riders under 21, their blockbuster performance outscoring the Missouri Thunder (1-3) by a 334.75 to 176 score puts all teams on notice they improve their ranking to 2nd overall (and a 3-1 record). Eduardo Matos, Cort McFadden, Josh Frost (who in his team debut ride earns 86.25 points on his ride), and closer Clay Guiton (85.5 points) lead the team's scoring charge.

And if the previous winning team performances aren't enough, along come the Arizona Ridge Riders.

They shake off any doldrums from their first loss of the season in a resounding manner. The scoring efforts of Bruno Carvalho (76.75 points as they decline the re-ride opportunity provided), Eduardo Aparecioo (81.75 points), Eli Vastbinder (86.75 points), and Keyshawn Whitehorse (90.25 points) result in their 341.5 to 172 win (the highest team total of points in any of the matches) to improve to 3-1 as the 3rd ranked team in the series.

In the shootout round, Kansas City's Sandro Batista (the only rider to remain on the bull for the required 8 seconds) is victorious with his ride earning 87 points to conclude the evening.

Just another day of talented teamwork.
