A (not so) little secret: the creative work of Victoria Oltarsh and her debut, "The Boy and the Secret of the Stars"
Here's a secret; there's something in the stars, and there's a star among us.
When it comes to the life work of Victoria Oltarsh, her gradual evolution as an author is not by accident. While the Nyack, NY-based author's debut is a little more than 40-years in the making, she's been a star among those she works with.
The long-time educator has a body of work which extends with her experience in the theater arts, a classically trained pianist, an arts and music immersed background (having worked with Grover Washington, Jr.), and now, published author.
A lover of reading and the classics, including works by Hans Christian Anderson (The Secret Garden) and one of her favorites, The Alchemist, the "incubation" of her concept of The Boy and the Secret of the Stars comes into fruition given the pandemic after a 40-year journey of life and beyond.
And as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover. While there's thematic appeal to younger readers, there's larger themes and concepts covered. Ranging from childlike wonder and discovery, to realizing the creative tendencies which lie within, it's about drawing connections with the world around you. With an undercurrent of such energy, it's not just for youth, but a reminder to older readers to remain young at heart.
Since its release in March, the first-time author's work is well-received. To date, it's designated as an Amazon best-seller and has received recognition via the International Book Awards.
Coming off a book-signing/reading at Big Red Books and an upcoming event in Paramus, NJ at the start of the new year (January 2025; click HERE to visit her website for more details), there's some creative work on the horizon, including more book-signings, readings, and related engagements. Through it all, the message delivered from her book and her related life's work is about having and maintaining a belief in the power of your dreams, and this includes her illustrator (who happens to be a student she worked with previously).
It keeps you connected with people, places, and things around you.
And that includes being amongst the stars and realizing the star power within you.
