The Spring provides a different energy; the warmer weather and vibrant colors associated with the season provide a sense of light and comfort.

The same can be said for the efforts of Kate's Club.

The nonprofit provides a solid sense of community for children, teens, young adults, and their families who have experienced the loss of someone close to them and are navigating through the grieving process. With a solid array of in-person and virtual programs within Metro-Atlanta to multiple sites across the state of Georgia, the foundation has a 20-plus year track record of serving the community (click HERE to visit their website).

In this spirit and sense, their upcoming event, The Mourning Glory Gala (April 26, 2025), provides a positive spotlight and engaging affair regarding their work and the sense of community provided. In speaking with William Perry (who serves as the development manager for the foundation), we not only learn more about the programs provided, but the positive energy and spirit behind the gala.

During our conversation, we're reminded not only of the mission and purpose of the foundation, but the growing range of services provided, including schools, churches/faith community, and related entities.

As for the event itself, it provides a truly outstanding affair and more:

  • The Grand Hyatt-Buckhead serves as the venue.

  • A VIP reception (5pm).

  • A cocktail hour (6pm).

  • Full dinner.

  • Live and silent auction.

  • Live performance by Will and The Explanation Points.

Thematically, the Mourning Glory is a flower that closes at night and reopens in the morning. This provides a parallel to the people served when it comes to grief in that publicly (or during the day), they are open and receptive, only to retreat at night given whatever hurdle they are facing. In this sense, the community building done via Kate's Club carries on a greater significance, making their work and the event even more meaningful.

There are opportunities for ticket purchases, sponsorships, and related support (as their silent auctions has a virtual component which is scheduled for release approximately a week before the gala). For more details, readers and patrons are encouraged to visit the foundation's website.

In doing so, it's helping provide others with a brighter morning, day, and sense of community via the efforts of Kate's Club.
