A lift during the holidays and a give-back to the community: the Loganville-Conyers Alphas and the #BlackIceAffair
The holidays are just about here.
For some people, it's a time to rest, relax, and celebrate. Given the bevy of holidays in late November along with mid-to-late December, it can be a festive time of the year. However, that's not the case for everybody as for some, it's a stressful time of the year.
Having said all that, the members of the Loganville-Conyers Chapter (Sigma Eta Lambda) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. are gearing up for their annual holiday day party to provide a measure of holiday cheer (21 and older) along with a give-back opportunity for patrons to lend support to their holiday initiative.
Affectionately known as the #BlackIceAffair, the business casual/holiday festive attired event takes place at Sudo Bar and Grill (Conyers, GA location) from 3-7pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Full of holiday cheer and spirit, it provides an engaging setting to meet, greet, network, dance (yes, they actually dance contrary to the claim of the classic Goodie Mob song), and for more than just a great way to celebrate the holidays.
A portion of the proceeds support the chapter's ABC2 Project. Their holiday initiative collects and purchases new and slightly used teddy bears, stuffed animals, and related gifts to distribute to children's hospitals including (but not limited to) Snellville Pediatrics and Hughes Spaulding Children's Hospital. The donations and visits provide a sense of cheer and just being thought of by children who are in said locations as well as their families; in a number of instances, the gifts from the chapter end up being the sole gifts for youth and their families.
Tickets are available for purchase online (click HERE to purchase) at $25 per person or $45 per couple (2). Opening refreshments/appetizers are provided at the onset of the event.
Since being chartered in 2013, the chapter provides a balance of service, outreach, and social events in their immediate service area; following the lead of the larger fraternity with a focus (since 1906) of "Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind" immersed with a mindset of "First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All", the members of the chapter and fraternity are preparing for a festive afternoon event driven by a larger purpose in giving-back, especially during the upcoming holiday season.
It's more than a party; it's a greater presence defined by a positive purpose.
